Prince Alberts

This is the rumour … but unlikely to be true for various reasons:

The “Prince Albert” was not believed to have been named after Albert as Prince Consort and husband of Queen Victoria, but rumoured to have been linked to Prince Albert, Duke of Clarence and Avondale (known as “Prince Eddy), Albert and Victoria's grandson, gay and well known in London circles of the time before his death, and also alleged to have been a “Jack the Ripper” suspect, without any proof whatsoever.. There is said to be no substantive evidence that either Prince had a “Prince Albert” body piecing, according to many who have written on this subject.

According to some sources, I read it was invented by the Regency Dandy, Beau Brummel as, “… a means of attaching his penis to his trousers to keep it 'down' - the fashion then was for very tight crotches. Although there is no conclusive proof, it was reported in contemporary newspapers that Prince Albert liked the idea and so adopted the custom himself, thus giving rise to the name,” but again with no evidence, remembering that the “newspapers” of that period were nothing more than scandal sheets published by hacks as the “gutter press” sailing close to the legal wind.

Another explanation from someone in New York mentioned, “Not a piercing per se, but apparently he and other Victorian gentlemen wore a "dressing ring", unpiercing, that pulled the male member to one side so as to present a more seemly silhouette in tight trousers.
Hence today, the question in haberdasheries: "Does sir dress right or dress left"?”

Actually, this is hardly modern thinking “Today” and could be seen as offensive and having sexual overtones asking a very personal question – even if the assistant in haberdasheries was male and gay!

It is said that a lot has been written about the history of the Prince Albert piercing, but very little of it is true; only spurious claims linked to Queen Victoria’s husband with no evidenced.

Other suggestions were that it was worn by divers to hold onto a urine trap as an alternative to a catheter. How original, but not  as hilarious as that claiming Italian Dictator Benito Mussolini wore a Prince Albert and would, “tug on his P.A. in times of stress to calm himself.” (Lol)

Another amusing tale is that Germanic warriors of the late medieval period wore such piercings in order to pull their genitals tightly between their legs in order to avoid sword injuries during combat.

The bottom line is there are more rumours than truth about Prince Albert’s (PA’s), but as a fetish I like them and other body piercings, and would like a Bear with one so I can keep his “member” on a chain  under my control for my personal use, rather like an equivalent to a chastity belt! (Lol)
